Day Tour Description
In the morning, we will arrive at Santo Stefano di Sessanio, voted one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. We will visit the artisan stores, selling local produce, such as saffron, lentils and cheese. And crafts, such as lace made using the traditional bobbin and pin technique, woollen garments dyed using natural products such as camomile and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes.
For lunch, we will dine in a charming restaurant, housed in a restored medieval building. Here, they serve rustic Abruzzese cuisine made with local specialties such as saffron, pecorino, lentils and lamb.
After lunch, we will visit the ancient fort of Rocca Calascio, the highest mountain-top forts in the Apennine Mountain Range, at 1460m above sea level. We will take a leisurely walk up to the fort and enjoy the stunning views of the ranges and visit the Santa Maria della Pietà Church along the way.
