Hidden Hermitages
Day Tour Description
Come with us on a leisurely hike to find the hidden hermitages of Abruzzo, the Hermitage of San Bartolomeo, and The Hermitage of Santo Spirito a Majella, near Roccamorice. In amongst the hills and wildflowers we will come across the hermitages extraordinarily built into the side of rocky cliff-faces. We will also see some Tholos (stone-built shepherds huts) and enjoy a fabulous picnic lunch with local wines.
Important Information
There is rocky and uneven ground, and the walk down to San Bartolomeo Hermitage and back, takes an hour. Going down into the hermitage can be a little intimidating for those who are adverse to heights.
Requirements
A good level of health and fitness is required and sturdy walking shoes.
