Hiking Tour – Santo Stefano di Sessanio > Rocca Calascio
Day tour Description
In the morning, we will arrive at Santo Stefano di Sessanio, voted one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. We will visit the artisan stores, selling local produce, such as saffron, lentils and cheese. And crafts, such as lace made using the traditional bobbin and pin technique, woollen garments dyed using natural products such as camomile and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes.
We will then begin our hike to the ancient fort of Rocca Calascio, the highest mountain-top forts in the Apennine Mountain Range, at 1460m above sea level. We make an easy hike to the fort and enjoy the stunning views of the ranges and visit the Santa Maria della Pietà Church along the way.
For lunch, we will dine in a charming restaurant, housed in a restored medieval building. Here, they serve rustic Abruzzese cuisine made with local specialties such as saffron, pecorino, lentils and lamb.

This is an Easy hike. The ground is rocky and uneven.
Requirements
A good level of health and fitness is required and sturdy walking shoes.
